Opera Translators
by Steven Roberts, age 8 Junior Journalist

People who do not speak many languages and like opera, should try the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center. Recently Lincoln Center installed translator computers called Met Titles. So if a person is speaking in a different language on stage, you know what they are saying. The Stagebill instructs you how to use the Met Titles.

MET TITLES

To activate Met Titles, press the red button to the right of the screen once. To turn the display off, press the red button to the right of the screen once. To turn the display off, press the red button once again.

Use the same procedure to activate Met Titles at the beginning of each act. If you choose not to use Met Titles, no action is necessary.

Displays in some of the boxes are adjustable for optimum viewing. Please be aware that these displays have pre-determined ranges of movement.

If you have questions about your screen, please ask an usher at intermission. Please remember that there will be moments where titles are not appropriate and your screen will be dark. This makes it easier to enjoy the opera.
